BaseN Corporation, dedicated to large scale infrastructure monitoring and management, and the leading Finnish energy company Fortum, are continuing their cooperation by developing smart grid applications. According to the two firms' agreement, Fortum's customers will get real-time metering and monitoring of their energy consumption as part of Fortum's overall service.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has opened a new regional representation office in Belgrade today. At the official inauguration ceremony the EIB was represented by its President, Philippe Maystadt and Vice-President, Dario Scannapieco who is responsible for operations in the Western Balkans; the Prime Minister, Mirko Cvetković and the Deputy Prime Minister, Bozidar Djelic were present for the occasion.

Last week the second annual IDTechEx Energy Harvesting & Storage USA 2010 event opened to 340 people and 28 exhibitors, up significantly from the previous year, indicative of the rising interest in the topic. The event was co-located with the IDTechEx Wireless Sensor Networks and RTLS conference, bringing together all those involved in these two industries.
